New Colours Added to Somerset Heritage Colour Collection for Thorndown’s Wood Paint Range

Thorndown is excited to announce the addition of 6 new colours to the Somerset Heritage Colour Collection, officially joining the range in March 2022. These wild and natural tones bring an extra dimension to the beautiful greens, blues, creams and hedgerow colours of the collection.

As with the existing 18 wood paint colours within the collection, these new colours are inspired by the Somerset countryside.

Garden Answers had a sneaky peak at 4 of the colours in their July 2021 colour special, and the remaining two colours, Field Green and Hartlake Blue are now revealed. Field Green is a beautiful classic British car racing green, and Hartlake Blue an elegant and traditional blue tone.

Field Green is a dark green with an earthy undertone, a modern interpretation of the racing car green, and one that looks elegant, classic, and beautifully natural.

Hartlake Blue is a gorgeous, calming, heritage blue with a chalky undertone. This colours works wonderfully on exterior structures but would also look beautiful inside the home on kitchen units.

Axe Blue is a moody, smoky blue with a grey hue, reflecting the watery depths of the River Axe as it flows through Somerset on its journey to the English Channel.

The subtle grey green of Tree Lichen is a beautifully gentle shade inspired by the lichen that is so prevalent in the southwest of England where the clean air provides the perfect environment for it to grow.

Whey White is a refreshingly natural cream fresh from the dairy farms of Somerset, and Whortleberry brings a deep dark purple plum colour to the collection, inspired by the wild blueberries of Somerset that go into Bumblees Preserves Whortleberry jam.

These 6 new colours join 18 on the Somerset Heritage Colour Collection, and provide an additional palette to compliment the 48 colours in the Wood Paint range.

The collection celebrates and reflects the beautiful tones and colours of the countryside in Somerset wood paint colours.

As the county of Somerset abounds with nature, this collection of wood paint colours is rustling with the browns and greens of hill and field, and brimming with the deep reflective blues of the water running through.

Colours and names are inspired by the countryside and flora and fauna within. Muted stone colours sit with Cow Parsley White, an off-white like bone china, Meadowsweet Cream, a deep rich sweet cream, soft rounded browns and a natural translucent green wood. The collection is completed with three classically elegant blues and seven greens that take you on a journey through the wetlands of Somerset.

Avalon Blue is as deeply mystical as the name suggests with a classic heritage tone that sits rooted in centuries past. The brotherly blue tones of Brue Blue and Launcherley Blue are brimming with reflective blue undertones that shimmer from teal to a moody smoky blue.

Rhyne Green is a pretty, fresh yellow-green rising up from the banks of dykes to greet Grey Heron sitting in the fresh and uplifting green of Wetlands Green. Tor Stone, Goddess Green and Old Sage Green pay tribute to the heritage of Glastonbury where the paint factory sits, bringing traditionally beautiful heritage tones to the collection.
